| People Our workload of challenging, interesting projects enables us to recruit and maintain highly qualified, experienced and capable staff. By managing our growth carefully and turning down projects which would require a distorting rise in staff numbers, we are able to give a more considered approach to recruitment which benefits us, our staff and the service we offer. We are not only committed to recruiting highly qualified staff, but also ensuring that through their ongoing professional development they stay ahead of the latest technical developments and maintain a broad span of knowledge. We achieve this by encouraging and supporting our staff to undertake courses from a range of providers such as the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Institute of British Architects. We also support staff to work towards chartered membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers. We are also committed to providing opportunities to engineering students. We regularly employ engineering undergraduates for short-term placements and offer work-shadowing schemes for school age students. We see teaching as a key skill which can benefit both the students and the teacher. Jane Wernick has run a Diploma Unit at the Architectural Association and is a visiting professor at Southampton University and Oxford Brookes University, whilst other staff have also been involved in tutoring at Oxford Brookes University and The University of East London. |
