Tara Arts, Britain’s first, Asian-led, multi-cultural theatre, had been based in a former mission hall in Earlsfield since 1983. With funding from Arts Council England, the original building was completely demolished and rebuilt to incorporate a new basement, rehearsal room and offices while the theatre itself has doubled in capacity to 100 seats. The new structural steel frame is clad in rendered masonry incorporating a stylised banyan tree design.
